New Hire T-Shirt Size Calculator

Forecast new-hire shirts for the next 3, 6, or 12 months. Per-size stocking levels and reorder lines, tuned to your hiring mix.

Buying new-hire shirts a class at a time is a hassle, but stocking blind wastes money on sizes nobody wears. Tell the calculator how fast you hire, what kind of workforce you're hiring into, and your supplier's lead time. You get a per-size stocking plan plus a per-size reorder line so you can keep your closet healthy without overbuying.

Why these numbers
  • Forecasting 8 new hires/month over a 12-month window = 96 total incoming employees.
  • 20% safety stock baked in — on-hand total inflated by 20% to cushion sizing surprises and re-orders.
  • Using the Mixed workforce industry preset — curve calibrated for a balanced mixed workforce.
  • Balanced at 50% female, shifting demand toward S–M.
  • Reorder point assumes 1 month of lead time — keep at least 10 units on the shelf before placing the next order.
  • Stock target = (hires/mo × window) × (1 + safety %). Trigger point = (hires/mo × lead time) × (1 + safety %).

Frequently asked

How many shirts should I keep on hand for new hires?
Enough to cover hires over your forecast window plus a safety-stock cushion. The calculator defaults to 12 months and 20% safety stock - tune both for your hiring volatility.
What sizes should I order for new hires?
It depends on the gender mix and the kind of work your hires do. Office hires lean toward smaller sizes; trades and warehouse hires carry a fuller L-3XL tail. Pick the industry that matches and the curve adjusts.
How does the reorder line work?
When you get below the reorder count per size, place another order. The line is set to cover hires during your supplier's lead time plus safety stock, so you don't run out mid-cycle.
I already know the headcount for an upcoming hiring class. Can I use this?
Yes - set the forecast window to 1 month and plug your headcount into 'expected hires per month'. Same math, no forecasting.
